UPDATES AND CLUB DAY 25 JULY 2021

16 Jun 2021

Dear all

Trust you're enjoying the cricketing weather?

I'm pleased to report on another 2 weeks of great on-field performances by all of our teams.

Our U11s and U13s are both in title battles in their Middlesex leagues, whilst the U15s won last week and are making up for lost time caused by cancellations and their games always seemingly scheduled on days when it rains! There are loads of great personal performances from the kids and those who are coming to the Sunday morning sessions are translating the work put in there to the matches, which is great to see and reflects the great coaching from Anthony Wise, Ben Lederman and .

On the adults side of things, our 1sts have now won 2 and had one abandoned game in Chess Valley Division One and last week won a thrilling friendly against Thespian Thunderers by 5 runs - mazel tov to Adam Spooner who scored his maiden 100 for Vale - 119 not out in just 35 overs.

The seconds also had a great win on Sunday against OMTs in the Chess Valley League, to get their first ever win in this, our maiden season, in the competition. It was great to see contributions from all eleven who played on the day and, in particular, impressive performances from the U18s playing (messrs Brand, Solomons, Tobias and Albert).

This Sunday sees another milestone with three, yes you read it right, 3 adult teams playing - the 1sts in the league vs Holtwhites at one of our new outgrounds at Dame Alice Owens School, the 2nds at Totteridge Millhillians, and the Development Team (aka Marksy's Maestros) playing at Woodford Wells. Let's hope the weather doesn't prevent this landmark being reached and please come along and support if you can.

Finally, please can I ask you to put Sunday 25 July in your diary - our Club Day at Dame Alice Owens. Forms will come round shortly to sign up for the Parents and Kids tournament in the morning (followed by the Colts Awards) and the 6-a-side tournament in the afternoon - food and drinks will be available throughout... We really would like everyone to come along to help celebrate this landmark 65th year of LMVCC and all the hard work being put in by people behind the scenes to keep the club growing.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions and one extra plea - please let the team managers know your availability as early as possible ahead of games - it really does help and makes their life that bit easier (plus cuts down on the literally hundreds of Whatsapp messages that get sent every week between the organisers!)

Best regards,

Alex Haffner
