London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club 2nd XI v West Middx on Sun 04 Jul 2010 at 13.30
London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club Won By 177 runs
Match report
LMV 2nd XI 273-4 beat West Middx 96 all out by 177 runs
LMV secured their third league win of the season, and in doing so scored their highest total and their biggest winning margin since joining the MSCL.
WM won the toss and somewhat surprisingly asked LMV to bat first. LMV opened up with David Freedman and the in-form Benjamin Lederman. Unfortunately Big Ben could not clock up another good score as he was bowled off an inside edge by the fifth ball of the match. Jeremy Harris joined "Big Dave" and runs were soon flowing. Big Dave hitting well on both sides of the wicket in a stand of 74 before he was bowled for 30 (6x4).
Dan Caplan came in and was soon off the mark with a couple of excellently timed boundaries. Harris was also now in full flow and LMV reached the 20 over mark at 110-2. Cappers was out in the 21st over for 19 (3x4), bringing captain Jonathan Lederman to the crease, as LMV looked to increase the run rate.
Harris and Leders applied pressure to the WM bowling as the runs flowed. Harris reached an excellent 50, as 84 runs were scored between the 21st and 30th overs. Harris eventually succumbed getting a leading edge to be caught in the covers for a fine 76 (14x4), but disappointed in not going on to make three figures. The pair had put on 96 in only 12 overs.
Leders was pushing hard now as Jeff Permutt joined him at the crease. Leders reached his first 50 of the season, as he and Jeff managed to keep the scoring rate up at around seven an over. WM changed the bowling all the way through the final 10 overs to try and find a way to slow down the scoring, but by the end of the 40 overs LMV had reached 273-4 with Jeff finishing on 17 not out (1x4)and Leders 73 not out (12x4), having put on 62 together.
In reply WM set off quickly as Jonathan Freedman struggled to find his line, but Adam Morris (2-25)soon picked up a couple of wickets. A couple of well chosen words to Freedy (after his girlie strop/tantrum) from the captain seemed to inspire him and he quickly got in on the act to end up with 3-33. Ali Livingston replaced Morris and finished things off very quickly with a spell of 4-16, by his own admission he wasn't at his best, but you couldn't fault his enthusiasm or sheer enjoyment.
So a good win and some excellent personal performances.
