London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club 1st XI v Chingford CC on Sun 30 Jul 2017 at 1pm
London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets
Match report
London Maccabi Vale recorded a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Chingford on Sunday to complete their fourth win in five league matches.
An impressive all-round bowling display limited Chingford to an under-par total of 154, before Adam Brand stole the show with a dominant innings of 99 not out to see Vale through to the win.
LMV won the toss and elected to bowl first, and despite Chingford battling solidly, Vale's bowlers were consistent and always had the scoring rate under control.
Wickets were shared around between Steven Allweis, Simeon Cohen, Benjamin Lederman, Neil Lederman and Adam Brand - a strong team effort restricting the visitors to just over three runs per over.
In response, Brand looked in fine fettle from the start. Fresh from leading Team GB to a silver medal in the Maccabiah Games, he maneuvered the ball around the outfield and brought his half-century up from 70 deliveries.
Benjamin Lederman struck a quickfire 40 to alleviate any pressure at the other end - but he was undone by a ball from Chingford's fifth-change bowler, who would have been delighted to pick up what must have been his first ever wicket at any level of cricket.
Adam Spooner then kept Brand company to guide Vale over the finishing line. Brand was on 95 when LMV required just two to win - and try as he might to clear the ropes to reach a well-deserved century, Brand could only hit a four to leave him tantalisingly close on 99 not out.
Nevertheless, it was a tremendous innings that saw Vale home to another win. Next up in the league is the visit of Abbotts Langley next weekend.
