Hope all well? Some tight hamstrings, and other parts of the anatomy, being felt across NW London today I expect (including yours truly) after a hard afternoon's cricket yesterday...
I'm pleased to report that both last week and this we have had three teams out - quite an achievement.
Unfortunately, the 1sts league game was cancelled last week due to rain, but with UCS Old Boys losing on Sunday, we are now joint top of Chess Valley Div 1.
Equally pleasing, the last two weeks have seen two wins for the 2s under the inspirational leadership of messrs. Gale and Feigenbaum. Last week they beat local rivals Totteridge MillHillians by 1 run thanks to an incredible last over from Beny Lovat conceding only 2 runs with their opener still in. Yesterday, we beat top of the table Greenwood Park by 4 wickets in a really hard fought and good spirited game of cricket to go second in the table. Special mention to Harry Brand for his five wicket haul (all bowled...) and Josh Solomons 3 wickets - so good to see our promising kids coming to the fore.
Yesterday also saw us field two development teams for the first time ever, with Anthony Wise's team winning by 8 wickets (Neil Lederman 93 not out) and Danny Caro's team falling just short despite 102 from the great man himself in his first knock for 4 years!
Last, and certainly not least, our Colts continue to perform superbly - Thursday sees the U13s play Cockfosters with a win giving them the title which would be a fantastic achievement. I also had the satisfaction of seeing my 9 year old Kiran make his debut for the U11s last week and score his first runs for the club - makes it all worthwhile...
Tomorrow you will receive an official invite to the Club Day on 25 July with Parents and Sons' in the morning, Colts Awards with a BBQ at lunch and the senior tournament in the afternoon plus food and drink after. You will need please to sign-up and purchase tickets in advance given the demand we have throughout the club - so please do so when the invite comes out through the links provided.
