London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club Won by 108 runs

Match report LMV 235-7 beat SKLP 127 all out by 108 runs.

Champions LMV saw off promotion hopefuls SKLP easily on Sunday after a devastating spell of bowling by Saul Weitzman and some lethal and not so lethal bowling from Ryan Kangisser. The match was finished off in comical fashion by the skipper who was reliably informed by the batsman he couldn’t see his flighted deliveries due to the sun. The skipper duly flighted the ball even higher and the batsman was completely flummoxed... Cue 11 LMV players in fits of hysteria.

Earlier in the day LMV had lost the toss on a wettish wicket and were inserted. The innings started slowly but Boris (Daniel Becker) soon unleashed a beautiful drive to get the innings underway. However, he played early on a ball and was caught and bowled. The run rate was creeping along at 3 an over but the skipper (Adam Brand) soon upped the scoring rate with some superb dance moves across the wicket which was more like a scene from a Saturday night BBC1 TV show though he had little option after the rather tentative Vice Captains (Danny Caro)snail like innings. Enough said! Mark Bott batted very sensibly and enjoyed his best Vale knock so far finishing on 46 n.o and together with some lusty blows from the fine athlete Neil Lederman and 45 extras LMV closed on 235.

Yours truly was able to start off with some attacking fields and SKLP with the pressure of promotion fixed on their minds collapsed to the swing and seam of Jelly and Bird aided by some interesting catching and one hilarious dropped catch at square leg off a ball travelling about 5 miles per hour by 'NEIL THE ATHLETE' . Some late resistance forced some bowling changes but the visitors soon crumbled in the early evening sunshine.

One More league game to go and we are desperately keen to remain unbeaten.
