Match report LMV 2nd XI 118 all out lost to MAL 1st XI 120-5 by 5 wickets

2 amazing collapses at either end of the LMV innings were responsible for another loss in the Middlesex Sunday League. At 19-4 it looked possible that LMV would be bowled out for their lowest score ever. However an excellent stand of 88 between Johnny Gould (40) and Simeon Cohen (33) seemed to be taking LMV to a respectable score, until another collapse saw LMV lose their last 6 wickets for only 11 runs. Whilst credit must go to the MAL bowling attack it was a pathetic batting display where only Johnny & Simeon managed to get into double figures.

In response MAL were held up for a while by tight bowling from Simeon Cohen (1-23), Jonathan Lederman (2-22) and at the end Harry Rothband (2-4), but the lack of experience in the rest of the LMV attack and an excellent innings of 59 from LMV Colts coach Mark Landau, gave MAL victory with over 11 overs to spare. Relegation is now confirmed and a disappointing league season continues. There are still 2 league matches left and good performances are required in both of them to ensure at least some respectability.
