What was always going to be an impossible dream nearly turned into a fantastic reality thanks to a terrific new ball spell from Saul Weitzman and especially Daniel Cohen who reduced the Home Counties League team to
2-4 in the 4th over of their reply chasing a very modest 148. Daniel Cohen's initial 2 overs were sensational and he had figures of 3-1 after
2 overs. Unfortunately a simple dropped catch from yours truly let the oppositions best batsman off the hook with the score on 50 and with 4 further dropped catches we threw away the advantage that we had gained... We were truly disappointing in the field....

Earlier in the day the openers (Shultz and Caro) had started the day brightly with an opening partnership of 40 at 4 an over. Brand and Scott Gerrard departed early but at 98 for 4 in the 20th over we had high hopes of hitting 200... Shot selection from the remaining batsman saw us manage only
50 more runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The bright spots in the batting were a fluent 33 (in 22 balls) from Mark Bott which included
2 sixes and a breezy 33 from JG who struck 4 fours and a six. A total of
148 was never going to be enough but it clearly would have been if we had held onto those catches..

We have our first league game this weekend - Both xi's are short of players this weekend and I ask you ALL please to try and make yourselves available for the club. Stats will be on website later
