Dear all

I'm very pleased to confirm two exciting events taking place a week apart. Both events are being put on with the support of our club sponsors the Maccabi Brady London Recreational Trust.

Please can I ask you to RSVP for both to either Anthony Wise - anthonywisey@aol.com or myself alexhaffner1976@gmail.com?

25 June - Training Session and Q&A with Julian Weiner - the only Jewish cricketer ever to play in the Ashes (9.30am training/11am Q&A)

Julian Weiner is the son of Holocaust survivors who emigrated to Melbourne, Australia from Eastern Europe. Julian made a century on his first-class debut for Victoria and in 1979 played 3 Tests for Australia against England, thereby becoming the only Jewish cricketer ever to have played in the Ashes. He went on to play a further three test matches and 7 ODIs and scored a century against Pakistan.

Julian is coming to the UK as part of the celebrations surrounding the exhibition "Jews and Cricket" which is being held at the Lord's Museum (well worth a visit).

On Sunday 25 June, Julian has very kindly agreed to hold a special training session at Rowley Lane for all our Junior players who want to come (7-15 year olds) from 9.30-11am and then to take part in a Q&A at the Clubhouse.

We would really love for as many kids as possible to take part in the training, and for all adults to join at 11am for the Q&A.

2 July - Club Day and Junior Awards @ Potters Bar Cricket Club

The Club Day will take place the following Sunday 2 July from 9.30am-12.30pm.

As always, we will have a parents and juniors tournament in the morning, followed by our Junior Awards with food provided in the clubhouse at Potters Bar.

When you RSVP for each of the above, please confirm who will (a) be coming, and (b) playing.

Looking forward to seeing you at both events.

Best regards,

Alex Haffner
