LATEST UPDATES FROM VALE HQ AND A PLEA TO ALL MEMBERS

15 Jul 2023

Dear all,

Lots of good news to relate from the past few weeks at LMVCC HQ.

Our Junior teams finished their league campaigns at the end of June, with the U13 and U15 teams acquitting themselves brilliantly in their first ever seasons in Division 1 of their Middx age groups - the U15s finished a remarkable 3rd in their division. Pride of the pack though was our U11s, who won every league game and romped to their title.

It was great to celebrate these achievements by the Junior teams at our Club Day on 2 July (as well as see various of the Dads attempt to remember how to play cricket in the morning's Father & Son tournament). Over lunch we handed out the Junior Awards - mazel tov to the winners below - and, equally importantly, had a chance to say a huge thank you to our coaches/managers Neil Myeroff, Gary and Steven Berlofsky and, above all, to Anthony Wise our Head of Juniors without whom we really couldn't function...

U11s - Isaac Jacobs (Bowler), Noah Klippin (Batter), Kiran Haffner (All-rounder), Harry Myeroff (Most improved)

U13s - Oli Ginsburg (Bowler), Daniel Baker (Batter), Natan Corin (Champagne moment for amazing catch v Totteridge)

U15s - Avi Braham (Batter), Yishai Epstein (Bowler), Emanuel Latchman (Champagne moment).

Junior player of the season - Oli Gindsburg.

At the senior level, our teams continue to shine in the Chess Valley League. The 1sts had a very good win against Ealing Hanwellians last Sunday, bowling them out for 215 (wickets for messrs Jonny Lubin, Judah Kandel, Steven Allweis, and Yoni Fingleson (whom we hope recovers soon from his broken wrist sustained in the game) and knocked off the runs with 10 overs left thanks to yet another 50 from the evergreen Adam Brand and good contributions from Jonny Lubin and Daniel Grusd.

The week before, our 2s beat a very strong Chorleywood side by 5 wickets, bowling them out for 154 with excellent performances from Yoni Laitner and Benjy Lovat and then knocking off the runs against an attack featuring several Saturday 1st team players thanks to a Brand 50 and various contributions from the youngsters (yours truly retired hurt first ball!).

These results leave the 2s joint top of Division 3 and the 1sts 4th in Division 1 of the Chess Valley League.

This Sunday the 2s entertain Uxbridge at Knebworth Park and VP David Marks' Development Team take the field as well.

Finally, a plea to all. Please can you update your availability AT THE START OF THE WEEK on Pitchero. It literally takes a minute or two and really does save the captains a good deal of time and effort to chase you all - it really isn't fair on them to expect them to do so. Your co-operation would be much appreciated...

Best regards,

Alex Haffner
