London Maccabi Vale Cricket Club News story

THE FINAL RUN-IN...

14 Aug 2023

Dear all

Just a few weeks of the Adult season to go now and all to play for...The last few weeks have seen lots of good cricket played (amongst the rain showers), teh highlight being Sunday's win by the 1st team in CVL Div 1 against a very strong Harrow Town team. Batting first, LMVCC scored 256-7 off their 45 overs with new South African recruit Jacob Milts leading the way with 82 and Adam Brand continuing his fine form with a run a ball 45. In response, Harrow Town were always in contention (and the watching Vale supporters on the live You Tube feed were on the edge of their seats), but 14 year old Theo Katzenellenbogen and Ben Lederman with 3 wickets each plus some excellent fielding enabled us to bowl Harrow Town out 16 runs short.

A vital win which puts us 4th in the table and within striking distance of preserving our Division 1 status which is no mean feat in what is a very, very strong league.

The past few weeks have also seen some more of our assembly line of junior cricketers making the jump up to Adult cricket  under the watchful eye of David Marks our Head of Youth Development, notably 14 year old Lior Heyman who only arrived in the UK from South African a few weeks ago and has already shown great promise for the 1st and 2nd team, and Ben Kaplan, a 15 year old recruit from slightly closer to home.

There are now just a few weeks to go of the season and we really need all of your support. The 2nd team have their last league game on Sunday with a win guaranteeing promotion to Div 2 of the Chess Valley League, whilst the 1sts have two more league games with one win guaranteeing Div 1 safety. We also hope to get more Development team fixtures before we wrap things up.

Please, please get in your availability on Pitchero TODAY.

Finally, this update is dedicated to Steven Allweis and David Marks, who both went above and beyond and put in even more of a shift last week to get two league teams out.

Best regards,
