ENDING ON A HIGH...

11 Sep 2023

Dear all,

Sunday saw two Vale teams round off the 2023 season in style with two wins and many of our talented youngsters to the fore.

At Botany Bay, we scored 232-8 off 35 overs against London Nigerians, with Adam Brand rounding off his imperious season with 130*.  In reply the opposituion started quickly, but Harry Brand made it a great day for 'team Brand' with 4-44 and Yishai Epstein-Lightman and Jacob Cowan (both juniors from our development squad) also took the plaudits with great slow bowling to restrict them to 188-9 leaving LMV winners by 44 runs.

Over at Uxbridge, Vale also batted first scoring 164 all out with Chico Hilman getting a brilliant 60 and 14 year old Lior Heyman showing great maturity alongside him. Uxbridge were 70-2, but captain Allweis marshalled his troops and wickets for Kandel, Laitner, Jake Musikant and Noah Zackheim (all development squad players) and Allweis himself meant that Uxbridge were bowled out for 114.

Last week we also found out that the 1st team had finished runners-up in Division 1 of the Chess Valley League, our highest ever finish.

So ends another season. We'll report on everything at the AGM (details to follow), but massive, massive thanks to those who made it happen, see below. If only you all knew how much time and effort they all put in...

Steven Allweiss - 1st team skipper (assisted by Ben Lederman)
Jon Feigenbaum - 2nd team skipper
David Marks - Development Team guru
Anthony Wise - Junior Team head
Russ Corin - Fixtures
Benjy Lovat - All things tech
Lord Terry Hyman of Potters Bar - All things non-tech...
Adam Brand VIP...

Another email will follow shorty on the Junior Autumn/Winter Nets, keep your eyes peeled.
